Iris

Accompanied by
a warbler's wandering trill,
on this sacred morning
in the heart of summer,
a tender green stem
unwinds its mystery.

Gathered from the dark,
a knot is loosened,
a trinity of petals,
yielding as if aflame
a mirror of a blue heaven,
caressed by a white star.
