Edvard Grieg's Ballade in G minor (Leif Ove Andsnes)

The mind creates division
And division is another name
For devastating pain.
The heart creates oneness,
And oneness is another name
For spontaneous joy.

--Sri Chinmoy

I first encountered Chinmoy when some musicians I followed began to surplant their first (or – given names) with other titles – Mahavishnu – Narada.
The collaborative McLoughlin / Santana album - Love, Devotion & Surrender (dedicated to Chinmoy) highlighted debate of understanding concerning the 'surrender' word.

“ Unfortunately, in the West surrender is misunderstood. We feel that if we surrender to someone, he will then lord it over us....But from the spiritual point of view...when the finite enters in the Infinite, it becomes the Infinite all at once. When a tiny drop enters into the ocean, we cannot trace the drop. It becomes the mighty ocean” ~ Chinmoy

The Greig was part of my families modest vinyl record collection, often played and nested in the memory.
